Printing on MacOS from your own computer

Printing on MacOS is available only from the Faculty's network.

Guide

The following procedure requires updating macOS to at least Monterey 12.3.

In case of problems with connecting to the printers please try adding it with the address ending with ?encryption=no, for example smb://printers.labs.wmi.amu.edu.pl/Printer_A1_PS?encryption=no. This option will not disable encryption, but will change the behaviour of macOS SMB client to a more compatible one.

1. Open System preferences:

   

2. Choose Printers & Scanners:

   

3. Unlock panel by clicking the padlock:

   

4. Change Default paper size to A4:

   

5. Add a new printer by clicking on +:

   

6. Right-click on1 Default and choose Customize Toolbar...:

   

7. Drag Advanced onto toolbar and press Done:

   

8. Select Advanced and:

   • set Type: to Windows printer via spoolss
   • in URL: enter printer address, ie. smb://printers.labs.wmi.amu.edu.pl/Printer_A1_PS
   • enter printer's name
   • in Use: select Generic PostScript printer
   • press Add:

     

9. Select Duplex Printing Unit and press OK:

   

10. During first printing macOS will show credentials dialog. Enter your doamin login (LABS\s000000) and password. Select Remember this password in my keychain:

    

Password change

1. Open Keychain Access and navigate to Passwords category:

   

2. Double-click appropiate record and change password by clicking Show password and entering a new one in it's place:
